Biró-Giczey House
Introduction
Biró-Giczey House is located in the historic city centre of Veszprém, in the Castle District. This Baroque town house now serves cultural and community functions. The people of Veszprém once called the house 'Madaras House' because of the magnificent birds featured in the frescoes of its Baroque rooms. It is home to the Veszprém Archdiocese Tourist Centre (VETK), which welcomes visitors with temporary exhibitions, themed displays, events and information services. The inner courtyard and vaulted rooms provide a unique setting for cultural events.
Location & Accessibility
The house is located at the entrance to the castle, near Heroes' Gate, right next to the castle wall. It can be reached on foot from the city center and the Séd Valley in 10-15 minutes. Paid parking is available in the vicinity of Vár Street and Jókai Street. The main entrance to the building is level, but the interior spaces are only partially accessible.
