Eau de Tihany - House of Fragrances
Introduction
Eau de Tihany – House of Fragrances is a unique, free-to-visit interactive exhibition in Tihany, which presents the culture, history, and fragrances of lavender. The exhibition is housed in a historic building, where three themed rooms guide visitors on a 'fragrant journey through time'. The exhibition focuses on Tihany lavender and its introducer, Dr. Gyula Bittera, who made Tihany lavender world-famous as the founder of the domestic essential oil industry.
Visitors can learn about the world of contemporary herbal medicine, the role of scents in everyday life, and gain insight into the process of making lavender products in the traditional workshop. Visitors can try out and purchase Eau de Tihany's handmade products in the on-site sample shop, including soaps, fragrances, bath bombs, and perfumes – which carry the essence of the Tihany landscape and culture.
