Hegyesd
Introduction
Hegyesd is one of the most peaceful settlements in the Tapolca Basin, made special by its 281-meter volcanic hill and 13th-century castle ruins. Climbing the hill is challenging, but the summit offers a breathtaking panorama of Lake Balaton and the surrounding hills. The cultural heritage of the settlement is the tradition of stone crosses, while the local wineries offer a gastronomic experience.
Location & Accessibility
It can be reached by car from Route 77 and from Zalahaláp. Bus services primarily connect Tapolca and Veszprém, which are less frequently available at the "Művelődési Ház" (Cultural Center) stop than at the "Hegyesdi elágazás" (Hegyesd junction), which is on the main road, thus being about a 15-minute walk from the village center.
