Jókai Mór Memorial House

Introduction

Jókai Mór Memorial House in Balatonfüred offers visitors a real glimpse into the past and an unforgettable experience, as they can admire and touch Jókai's original furniture and personal belongings in the beautifully restored villa, which was built in 1870, where they can admire and even touch Jókai's original writing desk, at which he wrote such famous novels as such as The Man with the Golden Touch. The interior exhibition and furnishings recreate the atmosphere of the days Jókai and his family spent in the house, and the atmosphere of the company.

The exhibition offers a great opportunity for those interested to learn more about the life and work of the renowned writer and their work through the relics on display. Among these, visitors can discover items such as the writer's collection of walking sticks, his own drawings, notable pieces from his collection of famous coins and snails, and his wife's stage costumes.

The memorial museum is a permanent venue and participant in the Jókai Days series of events.

Location & Accessibility

The memorial is located in Balatonfüred, on Honvéd Street, a few minutes' walk from Lake Balaton and Tagore Promenade, and a few minutes' ride by local bus to the Balatonfüred boat station, which is also a few minutes' walk from the museum. A paid parking garage is available for visitors on Honvéd Street.
