Introduction

The Öreghegy railway bridge and locomotive is one of Balatonalmádi's unique industrial and historical monuments, commemorating the railway transport of the early 20th century. The 375 680 steam locomotive on display is a former locomotive of the Veszprém Railway Company, it is a replica from the former Veszprém-Alsóörs railway line, which operated between 1909 and 1969. The line provided a connection between Lake Balaton and Veszprém, contributing significantly to the economic development and tourism of the region. After the railway line was closed, the tracks were removed, but the stone bridge and the locomotive remained, and in 1994, with the help of MÁV employees, they were restored.

The site is not only significant in terms of technical history, but also serves as a symbolic memento and a reminder of the former means of transport and the development of the area.
